I have been trying mine out by hand while I search for the elusive pcb connector I need to extend the head of the system out from the camera body. The shots are pretty amazing, and in the meantime, the camcorder/camera pays for itself (all 100 bucks ;-) by being incredible for use as a "take everywhere" all-in-one (zoo, b-day parties, beach, etc.)

The GO is "not" the camera to get as it does NOT use h264 compression and is only 640x480 resolution... a far cry from the AHD 720...

I purchased the A-HD 720P a number of weeks ago and have used it extensively but not in the air. It is a great unit, very easy to use and takes very nice videos. I would recommend it for general use, but can't say how well suited it is for mounting on a wingtip. If you can find a good way to mount it the videos it produces will be great. BTW... When I first tried using it the unit would not recognize any memory card and I tried several. I was about to send it back as a defective unit, fiddled with it a couple more times and it suddenly began working fine and I've had not problem since then. Not sure what that was about, but I mention it in case someone has a similar problem.

I have heard that the LCD screen has to be open for the camera to shoot video. I guess that would be ok, I may need to tape in position so the wind doesn't blow it closed.

Is there a threaded tripod screw hole in the base of the camera? That would be a big help for mounting.

How long do the batteries last?

After a lot of head scratching, searches of the internet for hardware hacks etc, I finally realized that the flip out actually will rotate and close, screen out, back against the body. The fact that the screen stays on draining battery power is still a drawback, but at least it's not a "wing".

By the way- News Flash < Best Buy has the Aiptek HD1080P camera on sale for $139!

That's a great price. Same as the Aiptek-AD-HD
And the 1080p will take a 16GB SD card for 4 hours of HD-1080p recording time, plus it has a remote control.

Again. Do these thing have a threaded tripod hole on the base?

Yes they do, although I'm a little concerned about the strength of it. The case is made of a light plastic, so I'd definately rig up some kind of lanyard.

And the battery seems pretty decent... I haven't run it full out in one shot to test fully, but I'd guess you'd get at least 90-120 minutes.

Yes, they have the threaded base, but it seems to be a "weak spot" on the 720p version (metal pressed into plastic). Mick broke his off (a safety strap is included thankfully!)

I'd recommend using a "body grip" mount of some kind, and yes, the lid does fold back so no big deal. One can disable the sensor to allow the camera to be "on" with the lid closed, but honestly, it is far easier to just hook up 12v power and run the sucker the whole flight.

Once I get that connector which is needed, it will be sweet to have the remote setup similar to that which I previously did with bullet cameras. I might try the 1080 at worst buy too?

Do any of you guys have the remote control? Sometimes it is included, but on others you have to buy it separately for only $10. Does it work, and do you have any feedback that your are recording?

I am seriously looking at the AD-HD+ (1080P) at best buy,
