I've been trying to figure out where I could fly around San Diego. I don't ever recall seeing a single trike in the sky. Could I, for example, take off from Ramona, fly over to the coast, down to La Jolla, Rancho Sante Fe, then back to Ramona?
Thanks for the info. I'm going to head to John Nichol's field this Saturday. I never see ultralights flying around the San Diego area. I'd like to know more about the flight restrictions here.

Hey Thanks Spencer! My plane is a predisessor of the Dakota with 540 cubic inch engine that burns 16 gallons of avgas per hour. You are right it is hot in there and also expensive to fly when I just want to get out and see the seanery. I am a 300 pound pilot would the new P&M GT 450 work for someone as heavy as me? Thanks from Duane.
Hi Duane! Welcome aboard. I used to fly the Pipers as well (Cherokee Six 300, Warrior, Arrow, Saratoga). Switched to Trikes in 2001 and never ever ever looked back. The days of $150.00 hamburger runs in the hot cabin turned into flights of fantasy with the wind in my face. Try it once and you won't ever look back I'm sure!! ;)

I fly this Piper for traveling at 150 MPH. But one of these days I would like to have a trike for local flights along the beach or for cooling off after work.
