Craig,
Feel free to contact me anytime for help with this. Talk to Vicky Talbot. I think she was very happy with how her Sport Pilot certification proccess worked out for her. I have been through the steps enough times now to have a pretty good understanding of how to get s person through with as little "pain" as possible. I have a regular contact with Ryan Anderson (DPE) in Fairbanks, so we have them for practicals too. You can easily get the student cert, and with the proper endorsements you are not required to fly within 25 nm of only one airport. The real bummer is the endorsement is only good for 90 days, but that should be plenty of time to practice up for your practical exam. The guys in fairbanks can do that for you. A bit of a pain but once its over its good for life! As long as you dont become disqualified to continue to hold the certificate of corse. Let me know if I can help, it would be my pleasure.

Go to the local FSDO office at 36th and C st. and ask for a Sport Pilot Student License. Then go see Rick Huggett and fly with him and get him to sign you off for local flight or do a trip to Wasilla or Palmer and get him to give you the 25 mile radius from BCV.
The Sport Pilot test is not hard. Go to WWW.gleim.com and sign up for the online course, study take the tests and get the ground school sign off with them...it will take you two weeks at the most if you concentrate. Then get a sign off from Rick to take the Sport Pilot test after you have fullfilled the flight requirements. Don't fret about it just do it, and then we can have too much fun flying again together like the old days.
